“I thought he was doing it to be funny.”

The summer after COVID-19, Nick, the kids and I were at our weekend home on the water near the shore with my sister and brother-in-law. We went to a local Irish sports bar for a late lunch. My brother-in-law is originally from Ireland, which came up in conversation, along with his Irish accent. Upon learning what an accent was, my daughter, completely surprised, said, “He really talks like that? I though he was doing it to be funny.”
